The Crow's Nest is just south of downtown Kalamazoo, upstairs (above a coffee shop) at 816 S. Westnedge.
The atmosphere is very casual, but it's nice and it's clean.
While more of a breakfast and lunch place than dinner spot, it is open in the evening in addition to being open for lunch and breakfast. Breakfast is served all day. The menu consists of breakfast items, sandwiches, burgers, veggie burgers, soups and salads.
There are a whole bunch of vegetarian items on the menu. I don't know for sure but it seemed that about half the menu consisted of vegetarian but not vegan items, a little under a quarter was vegan and the rest included meat. I'll see if I can stop by sometime and get a takeout menu (if they have one) so I can post it in the future.
The food was really quite good. It was much better than the food at The Earth in Norman, though I think a part of that was their use of real cheese on the sandwich I ordered as opposed to vegan cheese.
As far as deli/sandwich type places go Crow's Nest seemed to be right in the standard price range with meals ranging from $4-$10, about what you would pay someplace like Panera. I had a sandwich with veggies, hummus, and cheese on a very nice multi-grain bread. The sandwich came with a choice of soup or fries and I went with the fries. I've heard that their tomato soup is wonderful but it wasn't one of the choices today so I decided to go with the fries, which were better than average. My sandwich and fries were about $6
If you are vegetarian or vegan and live in the Kalamazoo area you've probably already eaten at the Crow's Nest. Vegetarian or meat eater, if you haven't tried the Crow's Nest it is a great spot for lunch or a casual dinner.
All in all, I give The Crow's Nest 4 Kazoos out of 5
